Marlee & Jared's Wedding - September 7, 2013

This past September Pink Blossom Events headed down to the base of Mt. Rainier for a three day wedding weekend at Wellspring Spa in Ashford, Washington. With family and friends from around the states bunking at Wellspring Spa, Marlee and Jared kicked off the weekend with a BBQ Dinner Friday evening catered by Simply Organic Cafe & Catering. Despite heavy rains that day, the event was the perfect start to a weekend full of celebrations! The next morning the skies cleared and sunshine brought smiles and dryer grounds making way for a perfect wedding day captured by Becerra Photography.

Up in the woods near the ceremony sanctuary, Marlee and her bridesmaids got ready in the Bridal Cottage. Marlee's father who owns a local Aveda salon helped with hair and makeup. Down in the Grace West Cottage, Jared made final touches to his vows before getting ready. Both Jared and Marlee took turns writing passages in their journal which has been passed between them throughout the years.
It was a full family affair helping with the setup of lighting that morning.
Jared and his groomsmen took a quick dip in the hot tub and watched as Marlee's father and brother helped Jared shave.
Not seeing each other prior to the ceremony, Marlee and Jared each took pictures with their bridal parties as well as family making sure not to get a glimpse of each other.

Parking at the bottom of the hill near the entrance of Wellspring Spa, guests chose to either walk up the road to the Ceremony Sanctuary or hop a ride via the shuttle system courtesy of family vehicles and drivers. A violinist and accordion duo welcomed guests as they picked up a refreshing drink after the walk in and a kraft paper bag filled with lavender buds for tossing when the couple is pronounced husband and wife!
Marlee and her father shared a few laughs and deep breaths before heading down the aisle to meet her groom for the first time.
Our favorite part of the ceremony incorporated a spin on The Seven Blessings. Rather than the traditional Seven Jewish Blessings, Marlee and Jared asked seven friends and family to give their own interpretation of a blessing and present it to them that day. Each person gave a unique blessing that was truly from the heart whether it was wisdom, advice or a poem guiding them through their marriage.
As lavender buds were tossed, Marlee and Jared walked up to the Bride's Cottage to sign the marriage license. Led by the duo from Pearl Django, guests were escorted through the woods down to cocktail hour. On the path goodie bags for each kid were presented for them to enjoy during the evening.
After signing their marriage license, bridal party and family photos were taken before Marlee and Jared stole some time away underneath the glow of the rays of sunshine streaming through the woods.
While photos were being taken, friends and family enjoyed lawn games, beverages and an antipasto station featuring cheese, crudités, fruit, nuts, olives, dips and crackers; a watermelon and mint Salad and a fig, gorgonzola and hazelnut crostini during cocktail hour on the Gazebo Lawn. Mason Jar mugs were used as both beverage holders and favors.
On display were a few of Marlee and Jared's favorite response cards from their wedding invitations.
Over on the lawn in front of the Turiya Cabin, long barnwood farm tables were set with burlap runners and bud vases. Patio lights hung overhead to provide lighting after the sun set.
With dinner tables set, a dinner bell was rang and guests moved in for dinner catered by Sunshine's All Naturals. A buffet filled with local and organic foods included chicken with raisin hazelnut chutney; spice grilled local wild salmon; pasta with roast market vegetables and hazelnut pesto; artisanal bread; grilled Market Vegetables with purple basil; an heirloom tomato platter with sherry shallot vinaigrette and a mixed green salad with blackberries, goat cheese and hazelnuts. A kids buffet hosted crispy chicken fingers, macaroni and cheese, fresh vegetables, and fruit salad.
Journals asking guests various questions acted as guestbooks were placed on each table.
With the cutting of the pie, guests grabbed a slice of pie and ice cream then refilled their beverages in anticipation of upcoming toasts.
When Marlee's mom came up for her toast she surprised everyone with a performance of All You Need is Love by a local musician. Soon everyone in attendance was singing along making for one unforgettable toast.
With dessert and toasts finished, the Sounds of Pearl Django brought guests over to the reception lawn for dancing and fun in the photo booth.
An impromptu first dance kicked off a late night of dancing underneath the moonlight.
Congratulations Marlee & Jared! Thank you for letting Pink Blossom Events be a part of your wedding weekend - truly a once in a lifetime experience!
