Nicola & Mikel's Homespun Wedding ~ September 2, 2012

After a year of crafting wedding decor and details, Nicola and Mikel were married Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Beau Lodge. A gorgeous "homespun" wedding dreamed up by Nicola was celebrated in the early fall sunlight amongst yellow and white floral and decor. The bride worked with her sister on the invites and other printed details (see examples at bottom of blog) and the Mother of the Groom who helped create a number of the wedding decor items including the burlap aisle runner and table runners. The Mother of the Groom is the owner of Quilter's RoostCara Grimshaw Photography captured their wedding day coordinated by Pink Blossom Events.

While a kitchen divided the bridesmaids and groomsmen that morning as they were getting ready, Mikel tried to sneak a peak of his bride-to-be when he thought he caught her walking by.
With hair and makeup complete, Nicola and Mikel took their first look in the orchard fields at Beau Lodge.
The bridesmaids glowed in yellow dresses sewn by the Groom's Grandmother and were accented by yellow and white floral bouquets by Flowers by Tiffany.
A backdrop of evergreens was the focal point of the ceremony which featured a wooden arbor built by the Father of the Groom who builds one for each of his children when they are married so they can not only use it as part of their wedding ceremony but as a part of their garden in their new home together.
A burlap aisle runner and shepards hooks adorned with mason jars filled with white daisies lined the aisle.
The sounds of Guitarist Barry Pollack filled the warm summer air as Nicola and Mikel repeated their vows.
With the seal of a kiss, rice was tossed in celebration!
Lawn games and strolls throughout the property were enjoyed during cocktail hour.
With the dinner hour approaching, guests found their seats at tables featuring a burlap runner, milk jars filled with yellow craspedia tied with mini chalkboard table numbers, yellow and white paper place mats and favors of lemon candies in vintage tins.
Once the newlyweds were announced into dinner guests were dismissed to the buffet catered by Cabbage Patch Catering located inside the "Stables." The structure was decorated with white lights that had been covered in colorful paper cups.
After the sparkling cider toast, guests made their way to the lodge deck for cake cutting. The ruffled cake was created by Kelli's Cake Creations.
Moving inside the lodge Nicola and Mikel took their first dance as husband and wife!
With dancing in full drive, a cookie and milk bar was served!

Congratulations Nicola & Mikel! We enjoyed being a part of your wedding day!

When you first meet BreeAnn, owner of Pink Blossom Events, you realize that she's wickedly organized and on top of all things. She was the first and only wedding coordinator that responded to my cry for help over a year ago and I was immediately sold. She's very professional, she's well connected, and she's super smart. I'm super detailed and finicky about how things should look and feel and she worked with my idiosyncrasies without batting an eyelash. When the day of the wedding came, I forgot a few things. She got creative and fixed my blunders. One of those ideas was very popular with the guests and I heard remarks as to how clever it was. There is no way I could have thrown my wedding without her. I really enjoyed working with her and am sad that part is over. Well... only a little. ~Nicola
