Honoring Those Who Served

As we pause for a moment this Memorial Day to honor those we have lost in the call of duty it brings upon a question of how you can honor your heroes at your wedding? Through the years I have seen numerous ways that my clients have honored those friends and family members who have served, are in active duty and unable to attend or those we are remembering who fought for our freedom. For example, a couple of years ago at my sister's wedding, many of their friends were unable to attend the wedding, including the best man, due to the fact that he was overseas. To honor the best man, a custom beer pint glass filled with his favorite brew was placed at his seat on the head table. In addition one of the groomsmen read his toast to the newlyweds during the reception. It was a simple, yet fitting way to include him in the wedding.

Other ways to honor those in the military include incorporating yellow ribbons in the decor or a framed photograph of the person being honored. Or in the above photo their dog tag is used as an adornment to the bridal bouquet.

How will you be honoring those who we have lost or who are served?

Metallic Inspiration!

Metals are one of the hot trends in weddings this season, and why not, as they are one of the most versatile color palates! A metallic theme can fit any season; for instance warm gold and bronze tones for fall, or silver and pear tones for winter. It can also be combined with various color schemes; almost every color comes in a metallic version! Even modern or vintage themes can be combined with metallic. For example, to get that vintage feel, why not decorate with some unique antiques that have a metallic tone?

New Find! The Bottle Openniere & Bottle Cap Boutonniere!

We have some of the most creative minds in Seattle I must admit! The other day I ran across a fun new find from a local florist friend of mine, Kim, owner of Lilies & Lemon Drops and had to share my excitement!
Introducing The Bottle Openniere and the Bottle Cap Boutonniere™ by Lilies & Lemon Drops! These unique beer-inspired boutonnieres are sure to add an element of fun to your wedding! With a limitless number of color combinations, both designs can be customized to match your wedding colors and event theme. Both boutonnieres are attached with removable pins just like a traditional flower boutonniere, so The Bottle Openniere can actually double as a bottle opener!

What could be more fun than that? To order, visit the Lilies & Lemon Drops Etsy Shoppe at www.etsy.com/shop/liliesandlemondrops or e-mail Kim at [email protected]!
