Tour of South Venues

We often think of a destination wedding as a faraway tropical location. However, a destination wedding is really any wedding that is outside of your hometown. This week I spent a day traveling to some of the wonderful destination spots south of Seattle. I must say, I need to venture out more as there are some spectacular venues for a Seattle Destination Wedding!
My day began with a stop at Brown's Catering in Renton.
Owner and Chef, Anthony Brown, gave me a tour of their kitchen and showroom along with information on their services. I have known Anthony for a couple of years, but it was nice to finally see his "home." Brown's Catering prides itself as the Northwest's finest full-service gourmet catering company with their all-inclusive service. Brown's Catering has been around since 1972 with no end in site!

Stop #2 ~ Indian Summer Golf & Country Club
After trekking down to Olympia, I met with Susan Aaron, Catering Sales Manager, of Indian Summer Golf & Country Club. I have to admit, it was well worth the drive! The championship golf course opened in April of 1992 and continues to be one of the Northwest's premiere private clubs. Indian Summer is home to an impressive clubhouse featuring a welcoming atmosphere, and a service and culinary staff who will settle for nothing less than perfection. The 33,000 square-foot clubhouse is ideal for wedding ceremonies and other events, and their Oakside Courtyard is available for outdoor entertainment. In addition, it is located just moments from the State Capitol and an abundant number of tourist activities, making it the perfect destination wedding! You do not need to be a member to host an event or wedding at Indian Summer Golf & Country Club.

Stop #3 ~ Kensington Gardens
Kensington Gardens website describes their facility to a tee! "Experience the elegance of Kensington Gardens for a truly unforgettable event. Just minutes from the city, yet a world away." As you pull up to Kensington Gardens your jaw immediately hits the floor. Located in Gig Harbor, you feel as if you have virtually traveled to a European destination. Completed in 2007, the English Manor-style building is surrounded by landscaped lawns and a private woods. Kensington Gardens is celebrated for the details and smooth, well-orchestrated events. A versatile floor plan which accommodates up to 140 people in their ballroom. This is the venue if you are looking for a one of a kind European destination wedding without the stress of a plane ride!

Stop #4 ~ Tacoma's Landmark
Located in the historic stadium district; the Landmark Catering & Convention Center offers stunning architecture with seven levels of elegant venues for weddings, receptions, corporate events or theatrical productions. The Landmark also features the Temple Theatre Ballroom with Cabaret style seating for 600 or Theatre style seating for 1400. Whatever you are looking for, The Landmark is sure to offer the space for your event!

After planning on visiting Suite One-Hundred for the past couple of months, I finally got to see the place I have heard so much about. The venue was much more than I had imagined! Suite One-Hundred is South Puget Sound's newest and most contemporary event facility.

The personal touches that have been made to create this space, have made this venue something to rave about. The space provides a perfect backdrop for any upscale, stylish, and memorable event. Located in Tacoma's historic stadium district, Suite One-Hundred provides expansive views along Commencement Bay, comfortably seating 130 guests indoors or 180 reception style. With the inclusion of the outdoor terraces, Suite-One Hundred can accommodate up to 300 guests.
Another plus to this venue? The fact that it is home to A Grand Affaire Catering!

Owner and Catering Director, Monica Newby, is full of life and is sure to make each event as Grand as her clients would expect. A full service catering company, A Grand Affaire has become one of Seattle's finest catering companies. Suite-One Hundred and A Grand Affaire Catering combine to give you a Grand destination wedding in Tacoma and around the Puget Sound!

Final Stop ~ Emerald Downs

After spending all day touring venues, I was ready to visit my final destination, Emerald Downs, for the monthly ABC Meeting. Having not been to Emerald Downs since I was in middle school, it was nice to see the space and get the chance to experience an evening there. Emerald Downs provides a unique location for any event. Whether you choose the elegance and privacy of their Triple Crown Suites, a buffet in the Emerald or View Room, or a Barbecue Buffet in the Paddock Park, Emerald Downs can accommodate events year round, making this a great destination for a Seattle wedding or event! During the evening we were given a tour of the venue along with a formal dinner. The food was excellent and I am now chomping at the bit for a return visit once racing season begins!

As I drove home that evening, I couldn't help but wonder where else I could visit for a unique Washington Destination Wedding? In the meantime, I am hoping to host an event at one of the locations I visited soon!
